Medical Assistant Training at Summa Health – Free Classes
Do you want to join the medical field but are concerned about paying for school and job prospects after graduation? The Summa Health Smart Start Program may be for you! The Summa Health Smart Start Program gives individuals an opportunity to earn a medical certificate with paid tuition while building a career at Summa Health. Our students attend a two semester, mostly online academic program while holding a PRN position at Summa Health. While working a few hours each month on educational sessions, program participants can focus on finishing their degree. This academic program is focused on medical assisting.
Program participants are offered 100% paid tuition in addition to paid fees for uniforms, books, supplies, and equipment. After graduation, we help employees transition into a new career at Summa Health as a full-time (40 hours per week) Medical Assistant.
Class space is limited, apply today! The Medical Assistant Training Program begins in May of 2026. It is a two-semester program with graduation in January of 2027 with full-time employment starting immediately after graduation.

Responsibilities Responsible for attending work related education and training sessions, performing office functions, and non-clinical duties to assist both patients and staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Formal Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Training Required: Six (6) months of work experience interacting with customers or the general public preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks at once.
Ability to work under high volume and fast paced conditions with frequent interruptions.
High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work well within a team environment by displaying a positive attitude, accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback; by supporting team goals and encouraging other team members.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with general public, employees, department heads, physicians and others contacted in the course of work.
Ability to organize and prioritize work, meet established deadlines.
Ability to operate personal computer and other related office equipment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and demonstrates behaviors consistent with the customer service policy.
Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
Level of Physical Demands: Lifting: Floor to Standing 10-19 lbs.

Compensation $15.96/hr - $15.96/hr. The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographic location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
