Staffing Inc is partnered with a client in Grandville, who is actively looking to hire a qualified Steel Handler, who is ready to start as soon as possible! The ideal candidate will be able to complete a drug screen and background check, along with bringing experience in performing daily safety checks and product inspections, operating a forklift, and supporting a production team.

Perform daily Safety Start-up Checklist for forklifts and overhead cranes, identify and report any equipment issues. Review shift status using the Shift Communication Sheet. Use the Intranet to access and review the production schedule to understand daily needs and job statuses. Unload steel coils from trucks using the overhead crane or forklift. Inspect incoming coils and verify thickness and width measurements upon receipt. Receive coils into the system using Plex transactions. Complete, sign, and stamp all receiving paperwork. Transfer coils to designated locations in the system for either production or storage. Issue material tags as required. Pre-stage coils in designated locations for upcoming jobs. Assist Press Operators with coil changes and machine setups. Band, reweigh, and print new tags for partial coils as necessary. Clean up banding and debris after hanging coils to maintain a safe and clear steel bay. Assist the Operations Team in emptying trash and cardboard containers. Assist the Operations Team in emptying scrap hoppers, as time allows. Support Engineering by cutting coil strips for tryout and development needs. Use Plex to log equipment repair needs. Support the Quality team with rework of non-conforming product, following set instructions and meeting required production rates. Follow daily 5S requirements posted in the work area and allocate time appropriately for completion. Steel Handler Qualifications:
Must be able to read and write in English. High school diploma or equivalent. Physical Requirements:
Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Continuous mental and/or visual attention to operate machine(s). Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 35 pounds independently. Personal Protective Equipment:
The use of safety glasses & hearing protection is required while in any manufacturing area. Additional PPE must be worn as needed based on task or area. Work Environment:
Considerable and continuous noises. Exposure to hazards where failure to exercise extreme care could result in severe injury. Working in a safe manufacturing environment Must wear appropriate safety equipment when deemed necessary May be working in noisy, dusty, greasy, or wet environments.
