Our client, a nationwide food manufacturer, has an immediate need for an experienced Maintenance Manager, to join their winning team in Angola. Our candidate of choice will oversee the upkeep, repair, and reliable operation of all equipment and the physical plant. This key leadership role focuses on implementing maintenance strategies to minimize downtime, ensure food safety, and maximize productivity in compliance with strict industry standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct, mentor, and supervise the maintenance team, providing training and coaching to develop their skills. Establish maintenance priorities and delegate tasks, ensuring efficient resource allocation and staffing, including coverage for multiple shifts. Foster a safety-first culture and enforce strict adherence to all company safety protocols and government regulations, such as OSHA. Develop and man the the departmental budget, monitoring expenses for repairs, parts, and contractors. Serve as a liaison between the maintenance team and other departments, including production, quality assurance, and engineering. Develop, implement, and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize unplanned down time. Oversee the repair and installation of production equipment and facility systems, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components. Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPls) like Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to identify and correct the root causes of equipment failures. Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to schedule, track, and document work orders, spare parts inventory, and equipment history. Manage and coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, services, and new equipment installation. Ensure all maintenance activities and facility operations comply with food safety standards like Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP. Participate in internal and external audits to ensure all maintenance records and procedures meet regulatory standards. Manage capital projects related to facility upgrades, equipment installation, and process improvements, including bidding, budgeting, and project timelines. Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives. such as Lean Manufacturing and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), to boost efficiency and reduce costs. KEY REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or industrial) or a related technical field is often preferred. Many roles also consider equivalent experience or technical certifications. We require 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, with significant experience in a food manufacturing environment. Several years of prior management or supervisory experience is also standard. Candidate should possess strong technical knowledge in areas such as PLCs, electrical systems (including 480V 3-phase), mechanical systems, and troubleshooting. In-depth knowledge of food safety and occupational safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMPs, OSHA, FDA) is essential. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills are critical for success. Experience with CMMS and basic proficiency in Microsoft Office are also typically required.
