About the Role
The Company is seeking a Dean for its Division of Social Sciences, a role that demands a collaborative leader and strategic convener to guide the academic program through a period of transformative opportunity and change. The successful candidate will be the executive officer of the Division, working closely with the Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, and will be expected to lead the Division in a manner that is in line with the institution's commitment to access, sustainability, and social impact. This pivotal position requires an experienced leader with a vision for innovation, a deep commitment to social justice, and the ability to strengthen research and teaching infrastructure, advance graduate pathways, and deepen community engagement. The Dean will also be responsible for expanding fundraising and strategic partnerships, articulating a compelling vision that attracts investments, and ensuring the Division's continued role as a leader in innovation, equity, and the public good.
Candidates for the Dean position must be accomplished academic leaders with national or international distinction as scholars and educators, and must be qualified for appointment as a tenured full professor in the Division of Social Sciences. Extensive experience in fostering interdisciplinary research and education, as well as a proven track record in fundraising and securing external support, are essential. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively within a framework of shared governance and a strong commitment to the mission and responsibilities of a public R1 university serving a diverse state. The ideal candidate will be adept at cultivating and sustaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, and will be prepared to lead the Division in a manner that is dynamic, resilient, and globally impactful.
