This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher specializing in English Language Arts (ELA) for 11th and 12th grade high school students. The position involves providing targeted instruction and support to students with special needs, including a manageable caseload of 8-10 students. The role focuses on delivering ELA and college seminar classes designed to prepare students academically and socially for success beyond high school. Location: Joliet, IL Duration: Contract position for the current school year (CSY) Start Date: ASAP End Date: June 6th Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:25 AM 3:30 PM Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique learning needs of 11th and 12th grade students in special education. Deliver engaging ELA lessons focusing on literature, writing, and comprehension skills. Conduct college seminar sessions aimed at college readiness, including study skills, time management, and post-secondary planning. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to optimize student outcomes. Monitor academic progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Maintain accurate documentation on student performance and compliance with IEP requirements. Qualifications: Certification or licensure in Special Education. Experience teaching ELA at the high school level, preferably with 11th and 12th graders. Strong understanding of special education laws, practices, and instructional techniques. Ability to design differentiated lessons and manage a small, focused caseload. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
