A full-time Special Education teaching opportunity is available for a middle school setting in Greenwood, IN. This role focuses on providing instructional support to students with mild functional skills needs in a mostly self-contained classroom. Collaborating closely with an instructional assistant, the teacher will support a caseload of approximately 16 students. Students participate in elective classes outside the special education environment, allowing for a balanced educational experience. Key responsibilities include: Delivering individualized instruction tailored to students with mild functional skill challenges. Managing and supporting a self-contained classroom environment. Collaborating with an instructional assistant to meet diverse student needs. Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly. Facilitating smooth transitions for students attending elective classes. Maintaining open communication with parents, staff, and administration. Qualifications and desired experience: Certified Special Education teacher with appropriate state licensure. Experience working with middle school students in a special education setting. Knowledge of instructional strategies for students with mild functional skill delays. Ability to collaborate effectively with educational assistants and multidisciplinary teams. Strong organizational and classroom management skills. This contract position begins as soon as possible and will last through the current school year (CSY).
