Summary The Sanitation Associate is an energetic, motivated individual responsible for cleaning production lines, buildings, and removing debris while maintaining good manufacturing practices, safety, and food‑contact surface sanitation. The position works independently in a fast‑paced environment and reports to the Production Supervisor.
Essential Functions
Completes checklists for sanitation procedures.
Clean and sanitize all production equipment.
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums offices as necessary.
Ensures food‑contact surfaces are sanitary.
Dusts and cleans overhead racking and equipment.
Maintains bathroom cleanliness.
Refills dispensers (towels, hand soap, toilet paper, sanitizers, etc.) as directed.
Uses mild cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces.
Aids the production team by packing herbs when necessary.
Reports safety hazards/food‑safety concerns to the immediate supervisor.
Maintains a safe work environment for the team.
Other tasks may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English and/or Spanish.
Good attendance.
Work authorization in the U.S.
Preferred Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED.
1 year of sanitation experience in food manufacturing.
Mechanical aptitude.
Knowledge of GMPs.
Bilingual English‑Spanish.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Promoting and maintaining a safe environment through teamwork and proper food sanitation training.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to understand, follow, and communicate standards and procedures.
Good organizational and detail‑oriented skills.
Cooperation with all co‑workers and supervisory staff.
Understanding and following instructions as given.
Adherence to safety procedures.
Ability to work independently.
Reliable transportation.
Work Environment
Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
Moderate noise level in the work environment.
Physical Demands
Able to work overtime as needed.
Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 10 lbs; occasional lift up to 25 lbs.
Regular standing and walking; frequent use of hands and arms for handling and reaching.
Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; regular lift or move up to 25 lbs; occasional lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Travel N/A
Cognitive/Sensory Requirements
Able to lift up to 50 pounds without help.
Able to stand for 8–10 hours per day.
Ability to lift, carry, bend, push and twist frequently as needed.
Frequency of lift, carry, bend, push and twist varies during a normal shift.
