GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Customer Service Representative position involves complex customer service for the Office of the Attorney General‘s (OAG) Data and Information Services Division. Work involves providing customer service support and responding to mail related inquires. The OAG Mail Center performs a variety of functions that support the agency mission and activities by accurately processing 5 million incoming and outgoing items annually. The OAG is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. As the State’s law firm, the OAG provides exemplary legal representation in diverse areas of law. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Intake, evaluate and sort incoming mail, paying special attention to mail codes and document attributes to ensure it is routed correctly Receive and process incoming documents and incoming payments Responds to staff inquiries regarding incoming and outgoing mail correspondence in accordance with Division guidelines, policies and procedures. Research guidelines, policy and procedure to provide guidance to complex requests Communicates with agency staff in person, by phone, or email Processes certified and overnight mail, enters information into databases Create and maintain activity logs, files, and reports on services Performs general clerical services including filing and record keeping Reads and interprets rules, regulations, policies and procedures Performs related work as assigned Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent Experience: Two years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: administrative support, customer service, general office, or clerical experience in a professional office or mail center environment; may substitute sixty credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience самим
Knowledge of mail operations and processes Knowledge of city streets and ability to navigate prescribed locations in a timely manner Knowledge of traffic regulations ფოტ
Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines Skill in effective oral and written communication Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making Basis

Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave) Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA Ability to lift and relocate 50 lbs. Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5% Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and good driving record PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working in the Office of the Attorney General or other governmental agency Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, and Outlook One year full-time general mail operations TO APPLY
