JOB SUMMARY : Perform building preventative and outdoor maintenance and repairs. May be temporarily reassigned at other District schools to cover vacancies. Assignments include elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.
Perform building maintenance tasks including but not limited to: cleaning, graffiti removal, wall patching and painting, moving (internal to building), preventative maintenance checks and services, limited electrical, plumbing, and HVAC tasks. [Daily, 25%]
Support school activities and events by setting up, tearing down, and cleaning up. Open assigned building at established times when applicable. [Daily, 25%]
Perform outdoor maintenance including sweeping steps, entryways, and alcoves, picking up trash, and emptying outdoor garbage receptacles. Remove snow and ice from walkways and entryways. Pressure wash exterior sidewalks once a year. [Daily, 25%]
Respond to all school radio and cell phone calls for service. May need to perform emergency biohazard cleanups. [Daily, 15%]
Audit facilities and report maintenance needs to the appropriate supporting entity. [Daily, 5%]
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position
High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
No professional work experience required
Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses
General maintenance, construction, or grounds experience
Experience with various tools (hand and power)
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS : The physical exertion, cognitive capacities, and work environments required to perform a position’s duties and responsibilities
Medium work strength level (lifting or carrying 50 pounds)
Works both indoors and outdoors
Constant standing and walking
Frequent bending and squatting
Frequent pushing and pullingFrequent climbing of stairs, ladders, and vehicles
Good motor skills to successfully perform daily tasks that require hand tool and machinery use
