Join Stony Brook Medicine as a Nursing Assistant I/II for full‑time evening shifts. Under the supervision of an RN, you will provide empathic care to patients, families, and visitors, ensuring clear communication and support.
Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, Nursing Assistants play a vital role in patient care, maintaining a caring and respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities
Change simple dressings, administer enemas, douches, and irrigations as directed.
Apply hotavez water bottles, aqua K pads, ice bags, and coolers, as well as hot and cold compresses.
Chart and document care and/or behaviors.
Take temperatures, pulse rates, blood pressure, and respiration rates.
Attend to daily living activities, personal hygiene, and simple human needs to maintain a comfortable clinical environment.
Assist patients with feeding to ensure appropriate nourishment.
Bathe, dress, brush teeth, and trim fingernails and toenails.
Maintain patients’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties related to direct care to keep the facility clean, sanitary, and orderly.

Possession of or ability to acquire necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities during probationary period; one year of satisfactory full‑time experience providing simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
Preferred:
NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or equivalent, one year of patient‑care experience, and a high school diploma or GED.

Complete pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine Employee Health Services.
Complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen.
Meet regulatory and New York State license requirements.
Salary and Benefits Salary range: $46,807–$50,966 per year (SG8). Additional pay may include location pay, shift differentials, supplemental shift differential, geographic pay, and other benefits such as generous leave, health plans, and a state pension.
