Summary Maintenance Worker (MVO) NA-07 – U.S. Army MWR – Youth Sports and Fitness, Fort Drum, NY

Requirements

Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.

Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment and meet all qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.

A one-year probationary period may be required.

Satisfy an employment verification (E-Verify) check.

Complete pre‑employment background checks in accordance with AR 215‑3, para.2, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

Current health assessment and immunizations (IAW current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations).

Schedule may include irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends.

Duty involves working both indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.

Mandatory drug testing, as part of the DA Drug‑Free Federal Workplace Program (sign DA Form 5019‑R).

Position is designated as a testing designated position (TDP) and is subject to random drug testing.

Responsibilities

Perform minor grounds maintenance, ensuring entrances and exits are free from debris, sidewalks are clear of ice/snow, and playground surfaces meet safety requirements.

Execute a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities.

Ensure children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practice bus evacuation coś with children and youth monthly and document all drills in writing.

Notify the supervisor of obvious hazards, malfunctioning equipment, damaged materials, and other situations that may impact work operations.

Work both indoors and outdoors, including driving outside in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a military installation. Exposure to dirt, fumes, and the possibility of cuts.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.

Ability to communicate in English at a level sufficient to accomplish the duties safely and satisfactorily.

Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.

Valid state driver's license (required to operate a 15‑passenger vehicle) or a commercial driver’s license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a 24‑passenger vehicle.

Additional Information Area of Consideration: This job is open to candidates who currently reside within the local commuting area (defined as a 100‑mile radius) of Fort Drum, NY. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) Preference eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

Allowances and Differentials

This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS). Employees may earn overtime pay, Sunday premium pay, and extra pay for majority of scheduled hours after 3:00 PM.

Non‑foreign overseas allowances, COLA, and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
