Highway Maintenance Specialist Paint Crew - Greeley
Base pay: $2,053.85 biweekly ($53,400 annually). Overtime: $38.50 per hour.
Work schedule: 10‑hour days, Monday‑Thursday during warm months (typically April 15 – November 1). Overnight travel covered by hotel and per diem.
Responsibilities
Plow snow, shovel gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt.
Operate heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, tractor mowers, bulldozers, front‑end loaders, single and tandem axle dump trucks, backhoes, and other machinery.
Mow grass, weeds, and remove debris from roadways, culverts, and tunnels.
Install and repair guardrails, highway markers, signs, warning signs, and lighting.
Fill potholes and cracks, set out traffic control signs and cones.
Remove and cover graffiti and install pavement markings and striping.
Stop or slow traffic in emergency situations.
Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs.
Follow safety guidance and wear proper personal protective equipment.
Respond to weather emergencies and be on call on a rotating basis.
Minimum Qualifications
At least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B (no air‑brake restriction) and ability to operate within Colorado.
Pass a pre‑employment screening including criminal, employment, educational and driving records checks; possible drug test and DOT physical.
Willingness to work on call, shift work, and overtime, including weekends and holidays.
Availability to live within thirty (30) minutes of a reporting location in normal weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong commitment to safety, learning, and customer service.
Experience operating a variety of heavy equipment and hand tools.
Basic computer skills and adaptability to new software.
State service experience related to the duties of this position.
Adaptability to changing conditions, teamwork, and effective communication, especially in safety‑critical situations.

Physical work in extreme temperatures, variable weather, and elevations up to 12,000 ft.
Conditions of Employment
Maintain a valid CDL Class A or B without air‑brake restrictions.
Eligibility to drive in Colorado; out‑of‑state holders must transfer within 30 days of relocation.
Pass all required pre‑employment screenings.
On‑call and shift work, with possible hazardous‑materials endorsement within 6–12 months.
