Posting Summary Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Technician I for Bayside State Prison located in Leesburg, NJ. The Technician I joins the clinical and administrative medical team at the prison.
Responsibilities
Takes vital signs, height, and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR).
Assists physicians or associate practitioners with procedures, including preparing inmates for examinations.
Obtains specimen collection and handling, including drawing blood.
Assists with cleaning, sterilization, and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
Maintains or assists in maintaining supply stock in the Health Service Unit and examination rooms, ordering appropriately.
Aggregates medication orders and forwards them to the pharmacy provider or local pharmacy.
Qualifications
Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.
At least two (2) years of progressively responsible related healthcare experience across multiple areas, with demonstrated competency in the essential duties.
CPR certification.
Valid driver’s license and own vehicle or alternative transportation to travel between sites.

Position Status FLSA: Non‑exempt. Grade: 99H. Salary: $18.45 per hour.
Standard hours: 40.00 per week. Daily work shift: rotating. Work arrangement: full onsite.
Terms of appointment: 12‑month staff. Pension eligibility: PERS.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and assist in lifting and rotating patients weighing up to 50 pounds.
Special Conditions Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and comply with all DOC requirements.
