Patient Care Tech 2 - MedSurg, Post-Surgical, PT, Days

This position is part-time, days, with 2 twelve-hour shifts per week, 7 am – 7 pm.
Responsibilities The Patient Care Tech II assists in meeting patient needs for all age groups (neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) in the areas of comfort, activities of daily living, clinical procedures, transporting and safety needs, and obtaining blood samples from patients according to established procedures and protocols. The PC II communicates with team members in a timely manner about observations of the patient’s progress, needs, and problems. The PC II maintains established departmental/hospital policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, patient safety, and infection control. The PC II works as a member of a unit-based, multidisciplinary patient care team, embraces shared governance nursing organizational principles, and demonstrates population-specific competencies (e.g., age-specific, cultural sensitivity, patient-centered communication).
Qualifications Education
High School Diploma or GED – Required
Related post-high school education (e.g., Unit Clerk, Medical Secretary) – Preferred
Work Experience
1 year full-time experience performing phlebotomy functions at Phlebotomy I or II level or phlebotomy competence or certification – Required
1 year experience direct care/lab – Preferred
Direct patient care experience such as Nursing Assistant, Dietetics Representative, Physical Therapy Aide, Phlebotomist, EKG Technician, etc. – Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
BCLS – Basic Life Support – Required
CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant – Preferred
CPT – Phlebotomy Technician Certification – Preferred
