Position Overview
Registered Nurse – Crisis Intervention Center (CIC) at High Plains Mental Health Center, Hays, Kansas.
Full‑time, in‑person. Pay is $35 per hour plus shift differentials; $325 sign‑on bonus. Position starts March 31, 2026. Schedule options: Daytime (7 am‑7 pm) or Overnight (7 pm‑7 am) with rotating weekly schedules. Application deadline: Thursday, February 5, 2025 at 7:00 am CDT.
Key Responsibilities
Provide essential nursing care, crisis stabilization, and medication management to individuals in acute mental‑health distress, including those with co‑occurring substance‑use disorders.
Conduct nursing assessments and monitor patient status throughout their stay.
Administer medications and monitor effects under psychiatric supervision.
Use crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques to ensure a safe environment.
Support suicide prevention, seclusion/restraint protocols, and trauma‑informed practices.
Document all clinical activity accurately and timely.
Educate patients and families on mental‑health care and recovery strategies.
Collaborate closely with physicians, APRNs, and the broader treatment team to ensure continuity of care.
Ensure regulatory compliance and uphold patient dignity in every interaction.
Qualifications
Must be 21 years or older with current Kansas RN licensure (ADN or BSN).
One year of psychiatric nursing, crisis intervention, emergency care, or inpatient experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of behavioral‑health crisis care, psychiatric medications, and trauma‑informed care.
Excellent communication and critical‑thinking skills.
Commitment to maintaining professional standards and patient safety.
