Position Summary The Scientist will execute pre-clinical scientific research and development strategies within Research & Development. This role involves investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles to potential inventions, products, and problems, as well as planning and executing laboratory research. The Scientist is expected to maintain a broad understanding of state-of-the-art scientific principles and theories.
The Opportunity As a Scientist, you will provide testing support for product and process research and development, including design, development, analysis, and troubleshooting. You will apply sound experimental design and perform complex scientific research to support the development of product formulations and/or analytical methods.
This role requires in-depth knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
Analytical Chemistry
Electrochemistry
Biomedical Engineering
The position involves dynamic and complex responsibilities, including research, analysis, and solution development.
Key Responsibilities
Apply deep and intensive knowledge of scientific principles to R&D activities.
Plan and perform laboratory-based studies and experimentation to generate data supporting product development projects across Diagnostics, with a focus on the Diabetes Care portfolio.
Test and assess innovative technologies as part of Research and Early Development scouting efforts.
Participate in interdepartmental and cross-functional project decisions.
Independently identify technical objectives, opportunities, risks, and alternatives.
Execute pre-clinical research and development strategies aligned with business goals.
Required Qualifications Education
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related Life Sciences field with 5 years of relevant experience, OR
Master’s degree or PhD with 2 years of relevant experience
Experience
2+ years of experience in biomedical or analytical chemistry
2+ years of experience in the field of biosensors
Preferred Qualifications
More than 5 years of progressive experience in a relevant scientific field
Previous lab-based and/or safety-focused role
Ability to apply scientific principles across a broad range of technical assignments
Strong independent decision-making based on sound scientific reasoning and analysis
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple parallel projects and work packages
