Duties

Conduct complex criminal investigations targeting narcotics and drug‑related activities.

Prepare comprehensive criminal investigativeناه報 reports and deliver briefings for senior personnel and federal, state, and local agencies.

Identify or apprehend drug traffickers and arrest individuals engaged in criminal drug activities.

Gather and analyze evidence through investigative leads, seizures, arrests, execution of search warrants, and other means.

Testify on behalf of the Federal government in court or before grand juries.

Additional duties may be assigned based on the individual’s unique knowledge, skills, and experience.

Basic Agent Training Applicants who have not completed previous federal law‑enforcement training must attend and complete a 16‑week residential training program. Current or former 1811 applicants who have successfully completed a Federal Criminal Investigation training program through another federal law‑enforcement agency may qualify for a 3‑week Special Agent Transition Program (FCIT empresas must be attached).

Conditions of Employment

U.S. citizenship required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance.

Sign a mobility agreement to accept relocation to any DEA facility.

Complete a pre‑employment medical clearance and annual medical examination.

Full‑scope pre‑employment polygraph required. 1811 applicants who passed a government polygraph may seek reciprocity. павт

Males born after 12/ арадио59 must register or be exempt from Selective Service.

Age 21 to 36 unless veteran or other preference eligible.

Pass E‑Verify employment verification check.

Selectee will serve a 1‑ or 2‑year trial period to be evaluated.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Subject to random drug testing.

Complete the 16‑week Basic Agent Training at the DEA Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Qualifications GL‑07 Level

At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GL/GS‑05. Required duties include assisting in investigations, writing reports, researching, collecting and analyzing data.

Educational substitution possible: one full year of graduate education may replace experience.

Superior Academic Achievement (SAA): applicants with a bachelor’s degree and SAA may be considered; criteria include class standing, GPA, or honor society membership.

Combination of education and experience may qualify if the total percentage is ≥100%.

GL‑09 Level

At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GL/GS‑07; duties include assisting investigations, collecting data, writing reports, briefing, assisting prosecuting attorneys, testifying, or presenting evidence.

Educational substitution: Master’s degree, 2 full years grad education, LL.B. or J.D. may substitute.

Combination of education and experience may qualify if the total percentage is ≥100%.

GS‑11 Level

At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GL/GS‑09; duties include conducting or supporting federal criminal investigations, developing plans, undercover operations, developing sources, interrogation, organizing evidence, testifying.

Educational substitution: Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years grad education leading to Ph.D./LL.M.) may substitute.

Combination of education and experience may qualify if the total percentage is ≥100%.

Additional Information Medical: Requires moderate to arduous physical exertion; must pass a pre‑employment medical exam; disqualifying if any physical condition poses risk.

Firearms: Requires authorization to carry and maintain proficiency; subject to the Lautenberg Amendment and denial for misdemeanor domestic‑violence convictions.

Employment Drug Policy: All applicants must randomness current and past drug usage; past drug use may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Mobility Agreement: Position subject to reassignment to any DEA facility; applicants must sign agreement.

Relocation Expenses: Full relocation expenses paid for federal transfers; other new employees may bear certain costs.
