ADOT has an opening with our signing and striping team that maintains signs and roadway striping for the Northern part of the state. Skills include equipment operation, roadway and general safety training, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. In the Northern Signing and Striping Maintenance Group we: Maintain and inspect signs and delineation on all state routes including large interstate signs. Install new signs, marking and delineation. Respond to accidents to assess and repair roadway features. Typical shift - 4/10 hours work days. Offer eligible tuition reimbursement. We are excited to hear from you. The series exists to provide and preserve a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public, and to be courteous, considerate and prompt in dealing with and serving the public. Job Duties

Highway Operations Worker: $18.19 Grade 14 Highway Operations Worker is the entry level position for the Highway Operations Technician series. Duties include operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, pavement care and preservation, landscape care, roadside shoulder restoration and repairs, signing and striping, delivery of equipment and materials, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care. Highway Operations Tech 1: $20.46/hr. Grade 17 Apprentice classification trained to perform more advanced duties including those listed above. Highway Operations Tech 2: $22.45/hr. Grade 18 Journey classification with broader scope, including scheduling, assigning, and overseeing subordinates, inspecting work, training, and guiding staff. Highway Operations Tech 3: $24.44/hr. Grade 19 Full journey classification with supervisor responsibilities; duties include scheduling, inspecting, training, and guiding staff. In this series the employee will also take on the duties of scheduling, assigning, and overseeing subordinates work, inspecting work, training, and guiding staff in duties mentioned above for the series. Highway Operations Worker: The preferred candidate will have 6 months of related experience in roadway/highway work, which may include operating motorized vehicles and heavy-duty equipment, signing/striping, pavement care and preservation, roadway operations, tunnel maintenance, or landscape care and preservation. Highway Operations Tech 1: 1 year of related experience in roadway/highway work with similar responsibilities listed above. Highway Operations Tech 2: 2 years of related experience in roadway/highway work with similar responsibilities listed above. Highway Operations Tech 3: 3 years of related experience in roadway/highway work with similar responsibilities listed above. Selective Preferences

Highway Operations Worker Requirements: Arizona CDL (Class A) permit within 90 days from hire and Class A CDL within 6 months of hire. Highway Operations Tech 1-3 Requirements: Arizona CDL (Class A) with N tanker endorsement required prior to start date; additional endorsements may be required based on location. Pre-Employment Requirements

Registration with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse is required for all CDL holders. Selected candidates must register and authorize ADOT to conduct limited CDL queries during employment. Visit https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/Register. Position may require responding to emergencies (24/7) and relocation to Maintenance yard within 30 minutes. May include extremes of cold/heat, time away from home base, rugged terrain, and high-speed traffic. Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs. Employees operating state vehicles must hold a current, valid driver’s license and meet training and driving record checks.
