About Midlane Country Club:

A new back nine was added in 1997, designed by Bob Lohmann, to enhance the layout and provide a more dynamic challenge. OGM provides results‑oriented golf course management, offering maintenance‑only, full general management, and turn‑key leasing services. OGM’s approach emphasizes clarity, simplicity, and long‑term improvement of golf properties.
Position Summary The Head Golf Course Superintendent plays a critical role in golf operations, responsible for all agronomic management and daily maintenance of the 18‑hole course, clubhouse grounds, and common areas. The Superintendent coordinates daily with the Director of Golf and the golf shop staff to deliver an exceptional golf experience. Responsibilities include crew supervision, budgeting, planning and advancement of maintenance practices, and hiring and training of the crew.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee turf care and overall playing conditions, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, and wildflower areas.
Guide operations of the Midlane CC golf course maintenance department and associated personnel.
Recruit, supervise, and retain maintenance crew; conduct performance evaluations and hold safety meetings.
Maintain the course to excellent playing condition in accordance with Midlane CC and OGM standards.
Schedule maintenance practices around play to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption.
Develop detailed annual plans for cultural practices and landscaping, ensuring an attractive, varied environment.
Manage water usage, irrigation systems, and provide regular reporting on water source utilization.
Provide technical, operational, and safety training for staff, ensuring compliance with OSHA, club safety, and state/federal guidelines.
Plan and budget for priority capital replacement and oversee chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) in compliance with regulations.
Direct and assist staff in planting new vegetation, replacing, spraying, pruning, and trimming trees and shrubs, and preparing plant beds for aesthetic arrangements.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
2–4 year Turf Management / Horticulture degree preferred
Special Requirements:
Ability to obtain an Illinois pesticide license
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 3 years related work, management, and supervision experience
