Working Shop Foreman / Diesel Service Technician
We are seeking a Working Shop Foreman to join a well-established equipment service operation. This is a hands‑on leadership role ideal for an experienced mechanic who is ready to take on additional responsibility while still working in the shop.
The right candidate will be a self‑starter with experience in diesel, small engine, and hydraulic systems on construction equipment. Leadership experience is strongly preferred, but training and development opportunities are available for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform equipment repairs efficiently with minimal supervision
Coordinate workflow with mechanics and service management
Supervise, mentor, and train shop mechanics
Ensure all safety procedures are followed consistently
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment using test equipment, tools, service manuals, and bulletins
Utilize service and parts manuals to complete repairs accurately
Continuously improve technical skills related to construction equipment repair
Maintain accurate and up-to-date paperwork (timesheets, logs, certifications, etc.)
Operate construction equipment for diagnostic and repair purposes
Maintain and supply personal hand tools necessary to perform job duties
Skills :
Technical Skills Small-engine repair (generators, concrete saws, power buggies, water pumps, plate compactors, light towers, mixers, etc.) Mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostics Electrical system troubleshooting and repair
Hydraulic system maintenance and repair Use of diagnostic tools, test equipment, and service manuals Preventive maintenance and repair procedures Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical documents Operation and understanding of Cherry equipment, foreman
Qualifications:
Construction equipment mechanical experience preferred
Prior foreman or supervisory experience
Strong proficiency in diesel, hydraulic, and small engine repair
Ability to read and use technical manuals (paper and digital)
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
Willingness to learn and grow within a leadership role
Training & Development:
Paid technical training available (in‑house and/or manufacturer service schools)
