Position Overview We are seeking a
Proposals Specialist
to support a growing engineering and marine-focused organization. This role is responsible for developing high-quality, technically accurate proposals in collaboration with engineering and business development teams.
The ideal candidate understands
technical scope , can assess whether estimates align with project realities, and is confident enough to challenge assumptions when costs or deliverables don’t make sense. This is a writing- and judgment-focused role—not project management and not engineering design.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, write, and coordinate customer proposals for engineering and marine/offshore projects
Review and interpret technical scopes of work and client requirements
Collaborate with engineering teams to validate scope, pricing, and assumptions
Identify inconsistencies in scope or cost and push for clarification or correction
Translate technical input into clear, client-facing proposal language
Manage proposal schedules and deliverables independently
Contribute to continuous improvement of proposal tools, templates, and processes
Required Qualifications
4–8 years of experience in proposals, estimating support, or technical commercial roles
Prior experience working in an
engineering firm or technical services environment
Strong understanding of how project scope impacts cost and effort
Proven ability to question estimates and assumptions constructively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable working with minimal oversight
Preferred Qualifications
Marine, Offshore, Maritime, or Oceaneering experience
Exposure to large infrastructure, platform, or industrial projects
Experience in high-value or technically complex proposal environments
Ability to work flexible hours during proposal deadlines
Candidate Profile
Confident, professional, and LOSS collaborative
Comfortable working closely with senior leadership
Strong backbone with a team-oriented mindset
Detail-oriented but able to see the "big picture"
Able to balance assertiveness with diplomacy
