Job Description The Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) is seeking a motivated individual who enjoys sports to join our recreation department. Candidates with experience in recreational activities in a custodial setting are encouraged to apply.

Duties

Assist in the planning, development and implementation of a recreation and leisure program for incarcerated individuals, including athletics, music, television programming, cultural events and activities.

Supervise the daily use of equipment.

Develop and coordinate outside community contacts.

Encourage participation in events.

Assist in the maintenance of security and sanitation. Perform searches.

Move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, recreation therapy, or a related field.

Experience in recreation management, recreation therapy, or a related field may be substituted for a degree on a year‑for‑year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual skills in English and Spanish (desired and assessed).

Experience in relevant recreational activities in a custodial setting.

Additional Requirements

Transcripts required prior to appointment.

Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Applicants must pass a medical exam, a drug test, and successfully complete the NE Corrections Training Program.
