Position Summary: The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing the firm’s information technology systems, infrastructure, and support services. This role ensures secure, reliable, and efficient technology operations that support attorneys and staff in delivering legal services. The IT Manager plays a critical role in cybersecurity, compliance, legal technology systems, vendor management, and strategic IT planning.
IT Operations & Infrastructure
Manage and maintain the firm’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services, workstations, and mobile devices
Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of all IT systems
Oversee system upgrades, patches, backups, and disaster recovery planning
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controlsționalgetdisplaystyle)ine
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Implement and enforce cybersecurity policies and best practices to protect sensitive client and firm data
Monitor systems for security threats and respond to incidents promptly
Ensure compliance with legal industry standards, data privacyalai laws, and client security requirements
Conduct regular risk assessments, security audits, and staff security awareness training
Legal Applications & Technology
Support and manage legal-specific software (e.g., document management systems, practice management, time & billing, eDiscovery tools)
Work closely with attorneys and practice groups to optimize technology usage and workflows
Evaluate and recommend new legal technology solutions
Help Desk & User Support
Oversee day‑to‑day IT support for attorneys and staff
Manage internal IT staff and/or third‑party support vendors
Ensure timely resolution of technical issues with minimal disruption to legal work
Vendor & Budget Management
Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and consultants
Negotiate contracts, licenses, and service agreements
Develop and manage the IT budget, including forecasting and cost control
Strategic Planning & Leadership
Develop and execute the firm’s IT strategy aligned with business goals
Advise firm leadership on technology trends, risks, and opportunities
Document IT policies, procedures, and standards
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of progressive IT experience, including management or leadership responsibilities
Strong knowledge of networking, systems administration, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity
Experience supporting professional services environments (law firm experience preferred)
Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a law firm or legal services environment
Familiarity with legal technology platforms (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments, Elite, Aderant, Clio)
Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ITIL, Microsoft, Cisco)
Experience managing remote or hybrid IT environments
