Job Summary As an Instructional Coach for Phoenix College Preparatory Academy (PCPA), you will own the responsibilities of leading and partnering with teachers to strengthen instructional practice and improve student learning outcomes. Primary responsibilities include classroom visits, data analysis, modeling lessons, and delivering feedback aligned to Arizona State standards. Additionally, the instructional coach will facilitate grade‑level and department meetings, oversee state‑mandated testing administration (including training staff for proper administration of state testing), collaborate with administration to align instructional practices for continuous school improvement, and create and deliver professional development sessions designed to improve instruction practices and increase student achievement.

Essential Functions

45% – Instructional Coaching and Teacher Support:

Provides sustained, job‑embedded coaching to teachers through observation cycles, feedback conversations, and collaborative planning. Models high‑impact, research‑based instructional strategies, facilitates Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), supports curriculum alignment, and guides teachers in using formative and summative data.

35% – State Testing Coordination and Compliance:

Oversees all aspects of state testing administration between PCPA and Gateway Early College High School, ensures compliance, trains test administrators, manages secure testing materials, coordinates accommodations, and serves as the primary campus liaison for district assessment personnel.

15% – Data Analysis and Schoolwide Improvement:

Leads campuswide data reviews, supports intervention planning, collaborates with administrators to align instructional practices with school improvement goals, and provides staff with data tools and training.

5% – Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, educational leadership or related field and three (3) years of teaching experience at the high school level.

Desired Qualifications

Three (3) years of experience with curriculum instruction or educational leadership in a preparatory environment working with high‑risk youth.

Five (5) years of successful teaching experience.

Five (5) years of experience with Arizona State Standards.

Three (3) years of experience with research‑based instructional teaching strategies.

Three (3) years of experience working with underserved students.

Three (3) years of experience with and utilizing student assessment tools.

Three (3) years of experience with state testing compliance and diagnostic assessments.

Special Working Conditions MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visa. Possess a valid state teacher’s certificate. Must be able to obtain or possess an Arizona IVP Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card (Level 1) prior to hire date.

May involve close proximity to others and exposure to emotional states.
