Job Summary As a Student Services Specialist in Recruitment, you own the beginning stages of student success and take on tasks of outreach and enrollment growth for our college campus. You will plan, coordinate and implement programs focused on recruitment of prospective students and retention of continuing students; assist with recruitment, admissions, campus tours, placement testing, and registrations. You meet and correspond with students in person, via phone and email and develop and maintain cooperative relationships with K‑12 institutions, Maricopa Community College District and community partners to advance the mission and goals of Phoenix College as they relate to admissions, enrollment and retention.

Applicants must be in good standing with all U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Aid programs and must be eligible to access the federal systems and websites necessary to perform the responsibilities of this role.

Essential Functions

60% – Plans, coordinates and implements programs and events focused on recruitment of prospective students and retention of continuing students; assists in all student services areas including recruitment, admissions, campus tours, new student orientation, placement testing, academic advisement, registration and retention; presents information to students in individual and group settings on and off-campus; meets and corresponds with students in person, via phone and email to assist students navigating through the admission and enrollment process; facilitates campus tours.

15% – Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with K‑12 institutions, Maricopa Community College District, college campus and community partners to advance the mission and goals of Phoenix College as they relate to admissions, enrollment and retention.

15% – Develops assessment methods, collects and analyzes data in order to determine program effectiveness; prepares reports.

10% – Assists in training and directing the work of staff, student workers, and temporary employees to meet program goals.

Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year full‑time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full‑time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications \ Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.

Two or more years of customer service experience with the general public.

One year of experience using computer software applications such as MS Office Suite, Google Suite or similar software that includes word processing, spreadsheet software, database software, presentation software and basic desktop publishing software.

Experience developing and delivering group presentations to small and large groups.

Knowledge of the philosophy and principles of a Learning College.

One year of experience using customer relations management software or student information systems software.

Special Working Conditions

Must not be in default or owe an overpayment of federal financial aid funds

Possess a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license; must meet minimum standards regarding driving

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense

May require travel within MCCCD locations and within Maricopa County

Some evenings or weekends required

May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen

May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
