Summary:
The Client is seeking a Labor and Employment Paralegal to join its House Counsel team in Houston, Texas.
Job Description
Energetic individual who will work with attorneys on labor and employment matters, including responding to demand letters, charges of discrimination, and litigation in state and federal courts.
Drive the discovery process by preparing, assembling, and serving discovery demands and responses, and correspondence in an accurate and timely manner under the guidance of the firm’s attorneys.
Follow up with clients and adversaries to ensure compliance with discovery demands and court orders, drafting letters and motions where appropriate; prepare reports summarizing discovery responses for attorneys.
Keep current with court rules, regulations, and procedures on e‑filling.
Ensure all data entered in the ProLaw system is accurate and regularly updated.
Collaborate with attorneys to provide quality legal representation in discovery, correspondence, motions, and trial preparation.
Prioritize assignments and meet all statutory and court‑ordered deadlines by maintaining an accurate and updated calendar system.
Develop proficiency in legal research and writing to improve and maintain skills and knowledge.
Coordinate trial preparation by communicating with the team regarding trial preparation activities.
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
Navigate and effectively manage a case management system.
Employ strong analytical skills and superior written and verbal communication skills.
Apply strong time‑management and organizational skills in a high‑volume office and team environment.
Be a highly self‑motivated individual, possessing high initiative and the ability to work independently.
Multi‑task, adapt to changing priorities, and work well under pressure.
Perform legal research (preferred).
Experience in ProLaw (preferred but not required).
Education / Experience
Three to five years of Paralegal work experience (strongly preferred but not required); experience in employment law preferred.
Paralegal Certificate or Degree in Paralegal Studies (preferred but not required).
