Supervisory Responsibility: None
Indirect Supervisory Responsibility: Student Assistants
Position Backup: Admissions Counselor
Basic Functions The Senior Admission Counselor is a key member of the College of Adult Undergraduate Studies and Graduate Studies (CAUS/GRAD) admission team, responsible for providing strategic leadership in recruitment and enrollment efforts. The role involves shaping recruitment strategies, leveraging data analysis, market research, and evidence-based practices to inform decision-making. The counselor will also promote Notre Dame of Maryland University’s mission, values, and programs to prospective students and external partners.
Essential Functions
Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective students.
Utilize resources strategically to guide students through the enrollment process, from inquiry to deposit, driving enrollment growth.
Recruit and advise prospective students about academic programs and admission requirements.
Evaluate applications, transcripts, and other materials to determine eligibility.
Communicate admission decisions to students.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote academic programs and services.
Participate in recruitment events, fairs, info sessions, and open houses.
Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving concerns promptly.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Enhanced Functions
Mentor and train admission counselors, guiding effective use of enrollment management platforms and student nurturing techniques.
Work closely with departments to develop recruitment strategies and resolve student concerns.
Provide expert enrollment advising from inquiry to matriculation.
Qualifications Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
Experience:
At least two years in higher education admissions, marketing, or sales. Familiarity with marketing principles is desired.
Skills/Aptitude:
Excellent communication, computer literacy, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
Working Conditions Normal office environment; travel within Maryland and surrounding regions; some evening and weekend hours required, including attendance at recruitment events.
