Job Description The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing all necessary duties and functions related to planning, organizing, and performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures.

Responsibilities

Performs clinical diagnostic nuclear medicine testing, including general studies, cardiac studies, and the computer interactions associated with these studies. Ensures patient identification using appropriate identifiers, follows physician orders, and complies with all regulatory and hospital policies. Assists with patient care within scope of licensure.

Monitors patients, diagnostic procedures, and equipment, making adjustments to ensure optimal results. Reports malfunctions promptly. Ensures images are processed, archived, and systems are updated accurately in the patient's medical record and billing.

Loads and unloads mobile imaging equipment, radiopharmaceuticals, and supplies. Develops and evaluates film for technical quality.

Registers patients by confirming identification, reviewing requests, checking for instructions, consulting with radiologists, and logging services. Ensures infection control and HIPAA compliance.

Screens patients for appropriateness and contraindications by obtaining history, reviewing orders, and questioning patients.

Provides compassionate care, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and engaging in caring behaviors with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Graduation from a recognized Nuclear Medicine program.

Minimum Experience:

Two years in an acute care facility, effective communication in English, ability to maintain appropriate work pace, and customer service skills.

Certifications/Licensure:

California License NMTCB or ARRT NM, AHA BLS, and hospital fire and safety cards (Los Angeles City employees only). Dual modality ARRT CT preferred.
