The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Neurology would like to hire an experienced, highly motivated Grant and Contract Specialist IV. The qualified candidate will oversees the full lifecycle of grant and research funding activities, ensuring compliance, financial integrity, and successful project execution. Their duties span both pre-award and post-award phases and often include advisory and administrative responsibilities. Must be able to work independently and troubleshoot and read and interpret guidelines, contracts and budgets. This position has minimal supervision and is expected after brief training / introduction period to be working independently. This typically takes between 3-5 months.

*Will discuss working remotely after the 30 day in office training.

Job Summary Performs pre- and post-award accounting duties for very complex grants and contracts. Prepares, negotiates, and monitors very complex grants, contracts, subcontracts, and budgets. Prepares complex government applications and reports and interprets policy and procedure. Monitors account activity, performs internal audits, processes budget modifications, analyzes financials, and reviews routine reports. Develops and implements accounting techniques and procedures for operational improvements and assists with managing special projects and preparing operating budgets.

Essential Functions Must be proficient in Excel, in particular developing budgets, creating formulas. Must understand Debit/Credits Assist in the development and submission of grant proposals. Project monitoring, Project Administration, Ensure Compliance with Grant requirements, Managing timelines and deliverables. Prepares Financial reports/documents. Ensure proposals comply with institutional and sponsor guidelines. Coordinate with faculty and departments to gather necessary documentation. Manage awarded grants, including budget tracking and financial reporting. Monitor compliance with grant terms, conditions, and regulations. Prepare and submit required reports to funding agencies. Resolve issues related to fund management and project execution Negotiate grant and contract terms when necessary. Analyze and project financial data for grant budgets. Ensure fiscal control and compliance with institutional policies

Physical Effort Mostly sedentary. Must be able to get around a university setting.
