Systems Engineer - Telematics
Position Overview:
We are seeking a
Systems Engineer
with strong
IoT Telematics
experience to join the
Connectivity Team within Cat Digital . This role focuses on gathering, refining, and driving connectivity feature requirements across Caterpillar's on-asset electronic systems and digital platforms. The engineer will act as a liaison between internal teams, ensuring clear communication and execution of connectivity features from concept through delivery.
Key Responsibilities: Gather and refine telematics feature requests from internal and external customers. Collaborate with Cat Digital architecture, platform, and application teams to develop scalable connectivity solutions. Work with cross-functional teams including ICS, Cat Electronics, and Product Groups to define and track requirements. Lead evaluations and the deployment of emerging digital/IoT technologies. Participate in technical design activities, including requirements analysis, system modeling, and infrastructure decisions. Maintain and prioritize the connectivity features backlog. Communicate feature request statuses and progress clearly to stakeholders. Assist with creating and reviewing technical documentation and application design artifacts. Drive timely delivery of features through coordination with architecture, development, and validation teams. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in an Engineering field. Minimum of
5-7 years
of experience in embedded systems and/or telematics. Telematics and IoT expertise is a MUST. Strong understanding of
wireless communications and technologies . Proven experience in
electronics systems , requirements gathering, and systems architecture. Familiarity with
customer experience mapping
and solution delivery. Experience with
cloud and digital platforms . Prior exposure to
Cat Digital
systems and customer environments is a plus. DevOps knowledge is a plus
(not required but can be learned in role).
