Birdon is seeking a highly detail-oriented and skilled Quality Technician to join our team and ensure the precision and compliance of our products. As a Quality Technician specializing in Dimensional Inspection, you will play a critical role in maintaining quality standards by conducting measurements, inspections, and analyses of components and assemblies.
This is a hands-on position that requires close and effective working relationship with manufacturing, engineering, assembly & test, project management, administration, purchasing and warehousing.
Conduct regular inspections and tests on products and raw materials to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. using measuring tools such as callipers, micrometres, bore gauges and other precision instruments. Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams or work orders and interpret complex elements of a part drawing or sketch, including welding symbols to plan inspection techniques, procedures and selection of appropriate inspection tools Inspect metal and plastic items using various inspection tools and measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, gage blocks, bore gages, etc. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure product adherence to requirements. Document and report inspection findings, including non-conformance issues, and communicate effectively with the production and engineering teams. Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for quality-related issues. Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability. Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action Clearly and effectively document actions by completing job traveler, time sheets, inspection documents, production and quality logs. Incoming Inspection process Intermediate level of skill and knowledge of QC procedures and methodologies to ensure compliance to standards and specifications (nonconforming product, containments, quality alerts, corrective actions) Conduct 1st Article inspection on machined, formed, outsourced and cut parts. Assist in training employees on quality standards and best practices, fostering a culture of quality within the organization. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, recommending changes to processes that enhance product quality. Experience in dimensional inspection and quality control, particularly in manufacturing or engineering environments. Experience with weld inspections is a plus High School Diploma or GED.
