How will this role impact First Command?
The Director of Analytics Strategy is responsible for developing and managing the analytics product roadmap to ensure alignment with the corporate strategy. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders across the business to design and prioritize analytics products that meet their needs. The Director of Analytics Strategy will report directly to the Chief Data and Analytics Officer.
What will the employee do in this role?
Develop Analytics Product Roadmap: Create and manage a comprehensive analytics product roadmap that aligns with the corporate strategy and business objectives. Modernize Legacy Analytics: Create and deliver on a roadmap to automate legacy reporting practices and tools. Stakeholder Engagement: Meet with stakeholders across the organization to gather requirements, understand their needs, and ensure analytics products are designed and prioritized accordingly. Strategic Planning: Align analytics initiatives with the overall corporate strategy, ensuring that analytics efforts support business goals and drive value. Product Development Oversight: Assist the Director of Analytics delivery in overseeing the development and implementation of analytics products, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet quality standards. Performance Monitoring: Track and report on the performance of analytics products, adjusting as necessary to optimize outcomes. Innovation and Improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in analytics processes and products. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including IT, marketing, finance, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of analytics solutions. Alignment with Delivery: Collaborate with the Director of Analytics Delivery to ensure that analytics delivery is aligned with the analytics strategy. Define Metrics and KPIs: Work with business stakeholders to define metrics, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) that align with business goals and drive performance.

High-Quality Analytics Products
Delivery of high-quality analytics products that meet stakeholder needs and are delivered on time. Regular performance monitoring and optimization of analytics products to ensure they continue to provide value.

Direct Report: Manage the leaders of the Operational Reporting and Analytics Innovation teams. Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative and innovative environment, encouraging professional development and continuous learning.
What skills & qualifications do you need?
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Work Experience
Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in analytics, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, manage projects, and drive strategic initiatives. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable analytics solutions. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in analytics tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI).

Required skills for management and leadership: Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to facilitate business and technology user group sessions, ability to translate strategy into actionable plans that are delivered, ability to structure and breakdown work for team execution Required Business Delivery: defining requirements and assessments, conceptual designs, business outcome definition and validation Required Technical Delivery: Demonstrated expertise in full data SDLC including design and quality management, strong understanding of database design and support activities; strong understanding of query development such as T-SQL or PL/SQL; and strong understanding ETL workflows and data lineage., Preferred Tools: Proven skills in analytics tools such as Power BI, Analytics CRM, Alteryx, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake, Informatica suite, MS SQL, Oracle, SPSS, SAS or Big Data tools. Understanding in the use of scripting and program languages such as R, Python, Java or like languages
