The Facilities Manager oversees the operation, maintenance, and stewardship of all buildings and grounds on the 15-acre campus of St. Thérèse of Carmel Catholic Church and Notre Dame Academy. This includes a K–8 school, preschool, church campus, administrative buildings, and various meeting and event spaces. The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring that all facilities are safe, functional, well-maintained, and support the parish and school’s mission and operations. This role requires a mix of hands-on physical work and administrative oversight. The Facilities Manager must be comfortable operating in both fast-paced event settings and planned maintenance environments, balancing the unique needs of a worship campus and school. Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Facility Oversight Supervise, maintain, and improve all physical facilities and campus grounds including: Church building (1,000-seat capacity), chapel(s), sacristies, and worship spaces K–8 school with dual classrooms, preschool rooms, library, science lab, and staff lounge Administration offices (school and parish, totaling ~28 offices), conference spaces, and reception areas Large social hall, kitchen, café, multipurpose room, breakout rooms, and stage Bathrooms (main and unisex), irrigation systems, and landscaped areas Parking Area and Solar Equipment Operations and Maintenance Oversee preventive maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, roofing, kitchen appliances, and all building systems Maintain a proactive maintenance calendar to ensure routine inspections and timely repairs Collaborate with the Business Manager to prioritize capital projects and repairs Manage parish computer and network resources Vendor and Contract Management Coordinate and manage all service providers (e.g., landscaping, janitorial, HVAC, IT, plumbing, electrical, pest control, security) Solicit bids, review contracts, and ensure service-level compliance Oversee the purchasing of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment Supervision and Leadership Supervise a facilities team of two maintenance staff Provide hands-on support as needed with repairs, event setup, and emergencies Train staff on safety protocols, proper equipment usage, and standard operating procedures Scheduling and Communication Manage the facilities calendar in coordination with the Business Manager, school principal, and parish staff to support all campus activities and events Serve as the primary point of contact for facility-related needs for parish ministries, school functions, and external events Ensure proper room setup and breakdown for liturgies, meetings, classes, and events Requirements Qualifications: Minimum 5 years’ experience in facilities management, preferably in a church, school, or institutional setting Strong working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, etc.) Demonstrated leadership and team management experience Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required Strong computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office, work order tracking, email) Availability for occasional evening or weekend events and on-call emergencies Preferred Qualifications: Technical certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical, facilities management) Experience with facility scheduling software and vendor management platforms Familiarity with Catholic parish and school environments Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be mobile to, from, and within the parish facility, as well as maneuver throughout the facility to clean and maintain the property. The employee must be able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including frequent bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
