Position Description
Kinder Morgan Treating is a leading manufacturer and the largest provider of contract operated natural gas treating plants in the United States. We design and build treating and processing plants to ensure that natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons conform to sales pipeline specifications and downstream markets. Our mission is to provide the optimal solution to keep your hydrocarbons flowing.
Kinder Morgan Treating is experienced – not only as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), but also as a plant operator. Our staff includes more than 60 plant operators, as well as a deep bench of engineers, electricians, mechanics, and project managers. We provide a full range of customer support, from engineering, through fabrication, including installation, commissioning, operations, and troubleshooting. Our lease plants allow us to offer lead times as short as a couple of weeks, in most cases, using refurbished, already-manufactured equipment. Many of our plants are mounted on modular skids reducing cost and expediting installation.
Our equipment includes amine plants for sweetening, glycol plants for dehydration, condensate and NGL stabilizers for vapor pressure reduction, and JT and MRU units for hydrocarbon dewpoint conditioning and NGL yield. We also have an extensive inventory of ancillary equipment such as separators, coolers, and NGL storage tanks. Our mission is to provide the optimal solution to keep hydrocarbons flowing.
Primary Purpose
The Director of Treating Operations is responsible for the overall performance of Treating Operations, Engineering, and Construction, as well as regulatory compliance, budget stewardship, training, safety, and emergency response. This role also involves representing the Treating group in various meetings such as OMS, Quarterly Operations meetings, QBRs, and customer meetings.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Manage the performance of direct reports, including Operations & Engineering Directors and support staff, to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and reliable operations.
Lead and mentor a diverse team of leaders, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Have working knowledge of and troubleshoot amine plants, mechanical refrigeration units, and glycol dehydrators.
Develop and monitor annual goals and safety action plans aligned with corporate objectives.
Coordinate with direct reports and maintain communication with stakeholders, providing performance updates.
Manage operations & maintenance budgets, developing and overseeing approved budgets.
Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance meet or exceed standards, aligned with KM's Operations Management System.
Communicate effectively with employees and stakeholders through various channels to promote a positive company culture.
Education and Position Requirements
Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience; minimum of 10 years in gas treating operations, hydraulics, flow control, compliance standards, contract administration, and emergency response.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities
At least 10 years of management experience in operations, project management, and equipment fabrication.
Effective leadership, initiative, teamwork, and communication skills.
Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and work collaboratively.
Proficient in reading and computer skills, and fluent in English.
Working Conditions
Primarily office environment, with frequent outdoor work at facilities exposed to extreme weather.
Travel approximately 33% of the time.
Work includes travel to facilities and meetings as required.
