Category Manager - Poultry Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Category Manager - Poultry for Wild Fork Foods that reports to the Wild Fork Foods office in Miami, Florida. As the Category Manager, you are accountable for the ownership of products sold by the business and supporting rapid product development sprints. You will support the Poultry products category and potentially other categories within protein. Reporting to the Head of Core Product Development, the Category Manager is a key member of the Product Development team and is responsible for supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced and demanding production & innovation environment. The scope of category management covers the Wild Fork business units in both the US & Canadian markets. Additionally, you will maintain positive relationships with Production, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain & Marketing, as well as your vendor community and other internal and external contacts. You have a customer-centric approach and are comfortable balancing regulatory execution and innovation/product development. Responsibilities: Responsible for category sales, profitability, and margin contributions for the business. Work directly with internal and vendor partners to manage products within your categories with a hands-on approach. Manage the category’s complete product portfolio throughout the product life cycle, maintaining a strong pipeline of new products for the short and mid-term, focusing on customer needs and innovation. Lead department-level category management using analytical tools such as Qliksense, Business Objects & Excel to find opportunities to optimize margins, reduce costs & improve ROI on new products. Maintain brand and business guardrails throughout the product development process. Liaise directly with Product Developers to ensure project completion on time and in full. Manage large-scale product implementation across various channels through close collaboration with Marketing, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain & Digital teams. Formulate purchasing strategies based on market & trend analysis, aiming to minimize costs and maximize gross margin. Collaborate across retail banners in Canada, Mexico & Brazil to find synergies in product development, and develop a global platform for sharing best practices. Strong cross-cultural communication skills are preferred. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to meet quality & profitability targets. Develop strategic business plans with key vendors. Monitor operational statistics, report trends, variances, and issues, and take appropriate actions. Communicate final assortment and department direction to stakeholders, including the Leadership team, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Online, and Retail, covering costs, terms, pricing, distribution, and marketing. Coordinate product information dissemination to Marketing and Retail through review processes and communication channels. Liaise with suppliers to meet regulatory requirements for new products within rapid development cycles. Support new product labeling processes as needed for product launches. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum 5 years’ experience in Category Management in Food Service or Retail; Poultry and Grocery experience strongly preferred. Start-up experience in Tech or Food-Tech environments is a plus. Deep understanding of retail & food service trends. Food Service or Restaurant experience is an asset. Passion for Food & obsession with quality. Strong focus on continuous improvement. Proficiency in analytical tools like MS Office (Excel, Smart Sheets). Support for Process & Continuous Improvement in Product Development. Ability to build trust and inspire others. Effectiveness in navigating cross-divisional boundaries. Strong analytical skills for category opportunity assessment. Negotiation and relationship-building skills. Decisiveness aligned with company values and ethics. Business knowledge, innovative thinking, sound judgment. Ability to consolidate information from various sources. Consideration of the impact of decisions on internal and external customers. Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset. Exceptional communication and systems skills. Ability to perform job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
