This Database Administrator (must be located in the state of Texas) contractor position is part of the Administrative Applications Production Data Services team and will be working on the development and implementation of modifications and enhancements to the Financial Data Warehouse. This position will perform advanced database development tasks for databases used by an application with complex data models, workflows, and reports. Enter codes to create production databases. Select and implement utility programs to monitor database performance, such as distribution of records and available memory. Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to the database management system. Review and correct programs. Answer user questions. Consult with coworkers to assess the impact of database changes on other systems and staff costs. Modify database programs to improve processing performance (performance tuning). Specialize in one or more types of database management systems. Assist in planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, ensuring alignment with application design phases. Evaluate user requests for new data elements and systems; incorporate into the shared data environment; provide technical assistance. Coordinate data usage to maintain integrity, control redundancy, load databases, and reorganize as needed. Perform data modeling and prototyping. Perform logical and physical data modeling, design relational database models, and create physical data models. Execute security recovery procedures. Determine and implement database search strategies and storage requirements. Maintain data dictionary for consistency of definitions and standards. Monitor database performance and recommend improvements. Create test database environments, including necessary libraries and procedures. Execute procedures to backup, recover, and restore databases following hardware and software failures. Support database security standards and disaster recovery procedures. Assist with database software installation, analysis, design, and implementation. Participate in benchmarking and threshold testing of databases and establish security controls. Assist in selecting database management software. Qualifications include experience in computer systems analysis or programming, knowledge of programming principles, systems design, database theories, and current technologies, with a working knowledge of EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies to ensure compliance and support users. Responsibilities:
Work with Oracle databases, including creating logical and physical data models. Optimize database performance during and after migration, identify bottlenecks, and implement monitoring solutions. Develop new views, tables, and PL/SQL code for the Financial Data Warehouse. Design, develop, and test tables, views, PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, and loaders. Develop and test Linux shell scripts for database calls and scheduled jobs. Perform performance tuning of tables, views, and PL/SQL code. Collaborate with the team to maintain data models, focusing on Oracle, with knowledge of stored procedures and functions. Experience Required/Preferred:
10+ years in Oracle database design, analysis, and performance tuning. Experience with Oracle database structures, data analysis, enterprise application/service design, and lifecycle using Agile methodologies. Preferred: Jira experience, Oracle certification, experience with data warehouse applications and reporting features. Additional Details:
