Title: Grant Accountant Agency: VP OF ADMIN AND FINANCE Location: Norfolk, VA FLSA: Exempt Full Time or Part Time: Full Time Job Description: Monitor and review financial data for University's grants and contracts. Prepare financial documents such as cash requests, financial reports, journal entries, budgets, etc. Initiate and transmit wires for cash requests. Prepare reconciliations, analyze and research data. Communicate with external and internal customers about finanical procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and their application to fund accounting. Working knowledge of interpreting financial and accounting reports. Working knowledge and demonstrated ability to work with automated financial systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Excel and Word. Strong analytical and research skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and written. Demonstrated ability to analyze, research and reconcile financial data. Demonstrated ability to apply and adapt established accounting methods to a variety of financial transactions and records. Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports and statements. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
