Tenure-Track Assistant Professor
The Tenure-Track Assistant Professor is responsible for preparing and teaching courses in chemistry, conducting research in chemistry, as well as advising majors toward academic, career, and life success. The position works with the Department Chair and department faculty and staff. This position also fully interacts with the student body in terms of teaching, advising, and research. In addition, this position interacts with other faculty and staff regarding recruiting, curriculum design, and other similar requirements of the department and university. Responsibilities: Teaching: Teaches graduate and undergraduate courses as assigned; Research: Establishes and maintains an active and sustainable research program; and Contributes to the department, college, university, and community. Required Qualifications: Terminal degree in a related field; Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related discipline is required prior to starting this appointment; Strong records in both research and teaching; Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, high-quality instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels; Proven ability to conduct impactful research, as evidenced by a strong record of publication; Proven record of seeking extramural research support, as evidenced by proposal submissions and/or receipt of funding awards; and Commitment to conducting research in collaboration with graduate (PhD and MS) and undergraduate students and to developing, establishing, and maintaining a robust research program. Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral experience preferred; Strong knowledge of current chemistry research; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for teaching and collaboration; Strong organizational and time management skills; Ability to design curriculum and mentor students; and Commitment to fostering an inclusive, team-oriented environment.
