Salary : $39,552.00 AnnuallyLocation : Savannah, GAJob Type: Full-Time PermanentJob Number: 2502530Department: Water Resources DepartmentDivision: Water Distribution Opening Date: 07/31/2025Closing Date: 8/10/2025 11:59 PM Eastern PurposeThis position participates in the reading and servicing of water meters.Essential Job Functions Locates and reads residential and commercial water meters; records readings and enters information into a hand-held computer.Reports of leaks or malfunctions requiring repairs to meters, meter boxes, and water lines.Reports unusual circumstances at water meters; enters work codes into hand handheld computer.Pumps water, digs dirt, and removes mud from meter boxes.Lifts meter boxes and manhole covers when necessary.Turns water on and off.Writes work order requests and daily production reports.Uses a laptop computer to read automated meters as required.Re-checks meter readings to ensure accuracy and reliability.Operates and maintains an assigned vehicle.Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent with one year of customer service experience with meter reading, preferably in a public works area such as electricity, gas, cable, phone, or water service utility; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.Additional RequirementsBackground investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
