The Software Developer Lead position will lead staff in functional work efforts associated with generating software specifications and associated documentation, solution design, solution development, solution testing, and final move to production which supports the structure and functions of the extremely complex software modules for system end users at both the University System Office and throughout the twenty-six institutions personnel to ensure that the systems continue to operate smoothly even while modifications and enhancements are being developed. This position works with management and other team members to develop common standards and procedures for program and data maintenance and enhancements of the assigned modules, including quality assurance and testing procedures. Tasks are varied in nature and often time critical. The customer base and the service environment are complex. Identification of and adherence to IT best practices and standard operating procedures for Information Technology Services are important; however, flexibility in meeting the needs of customers is also a key consideration. Technical Leadership - 25 Provide technical leadership and guidance to the functional and technical development teams.
Fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Conducting research and prototyping to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Drive and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance development processes, tools, and methodologies.
Establish and enforce quality assurance processes with the various teams to ensure that software applications meet quality, performance, and security standards.
Software Development and Architecture - 20 Design scalable and maintainable software architectures that meet the needs of our customers and align with the company's strategic objectives.
Lead the development of complex software applications.
Utilize best practices and ensuring code quality through code reviews and testing.
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, prioritize features, and deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
Project Management - 20 Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Team Development and Mentorship - 20 Mentor and coach team members helping them grow their skills and advance their careers within the organization.
Documentation - 15 Review and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, architecture diagrams, and user manuals. Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements A bachelor's degree in a related field and at least eight years' job-related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience is required to perform this job.

KNOWLEDGE Project Management: Lead and manage system-related projects overseeing planning, execution, and evaluation. This includes defining and reviewing project proposals to determine scope, timeframe, and resource allocation across project phases; organizing and facilitating internal testing as well as institutional application testing sessions; providing status updates.
Collaboration: Collaborates with other Software Developer Leads across our organization to define technical strategy and time estimates for development; anticipates potential issues and collaborating with cross functional teams to resolve issues and achieve project goals.
Stakeholder Engagement: Serves as a liaison between diverse stakeholders, including IT teams, institutional representatives, and university system office representatives. Communicates complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating collaboration across departments by providing clear and precise information, clarifying procedures, and offering additional support, as necessary.
SKILLS Mentorship and Training: Uses project opportunities to mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on technical and professional development; Ensures knowledge transfer within the team and the department; Assesses training needs and makes recommendations to improve methodology; scheduling and leading team meetings, review sessions, and post project review sessions.
