Position Overview
Provide accounting and reporting expertise to the Corporate and Divisional accounting teams and Senior Management at Ashton Woods Homes (AWH). This position ensures that all required external financial statements and other reports, and accounting and financial processes and procedures are completed in a timely manner, accurately and in accordance with AWH policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles. This position will also perform independent research and analyses of the impact of accounting and regulatory pronouncements on the Company’s financial statements, forecasts, accounting, and disclosure practices.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the preparation and review of all external reporting requirements, including issuances of 10-K, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, earnings releases, and press releases. Responsible for the compilation of financial statements, footnotes, management’s discussion and analysis and all other components of quarterly 10-K/10-Q issuances. Provide technical expertise and leadership to the organization on the impact and application of accounting guidance, the implementation of new accounting standards, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC, and PCAOB requirements. Responsible for monitoring and researching new GAAP and SEC pronouncements, evaluating the impact of applicable pronouncements to the Company, and assisting in the implementation of new business, accounting, and financial reporting processes resulting from such pronouncements. Establish and document accounting policies for division and corporate accounting departments. Manage the preparation of internal reports to Senior Management and external reports to the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Investors and Lenders. Responsible for lease accounting process, including maintenance of AWH’s lease portfolio in lease accounting software and monthly preparation of lease-related journal entries. Serve as the primary liaison between the Company and external auditors, coordinating quarterly reviews and annual audit. Manage the development, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of appropriate internal controls. Proactively seek opportunities for process improvements. Assist with ad hoc projects and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. At least 7 years of relevant experience from public accounting and/or industry experience. Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License required. Understanding of. SEC reporting experience required. Excellent knowledge and understanding of US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and SEC regulations. Real estate/homebuilding accounting experience preferred but not required.
Skills And Knowledge
Ability to perform independent research and prepare analyses of the impact of accounting and regulatory pronouncements on the Company’s financial statements and Accounting and disclosure practices. Experience in SOX control execution and documentation. Detail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with senior management and influence decision making. Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change. Ability to take ownership of projects and drive them through to completion. Ability to work with all levels of personnel, from staff to executive management. Ability to review, analyze and interpret information as well as trouble-shoot to solve problems. Knowledge of business English and ability to communicate patiently and professionally with both internal and external customers both orally and in writing.

Position Overview
