Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Engineer Systems Test – Systems Test SME Lead (24-490) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. The Systems Test SME Lead is responsible for planning and analyzing all MDS ground tests and flight tests in which the C2BMC program participates. Ground test types include
pairwise tests, Continuous Developmental Integration (CDI), Integrated Ground Test (GTI), Distributed Ground Test (GTD), cyber tests, Space Domain Awareness (SDA), and pre-flight test HWIL efforts . Flight tests are conducted with predetermined sensors and shooters. Essential Functions: Possess technical knowledge of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense System (MDS), including sensors, shooters, command and control systems, and networks.
Experience with integration and testing within the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program.
At least 5 years of relevant experience on the C2BMC program as an Event Mission Director (EMD) or Configuration Engineer.
Self-starter with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, capable of working effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a related STEM discipline and 10 years of experience, or a PhD degree and 8 years of related experience.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
Expected to provide guidance to the team of System Test SMEs, interface with senior government customer personnel, and ensure information flow to other National Team functional areas.
Responsible for planning all assigned test events, with emphasis on developing and implementing the test artifacts required for each event.
