Role Overview
Rapaport Auctions is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales & Growth to lead the expansion and performance of our auction platform. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving revenue, increasing client participation, optimizing customer acquisition and retention, and scaling our auction business across existing and new markets.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, data-driven sales leader with deep B2B experience, strong management capabilities, and proven success in building and leading top-performing teams. Experience in luxury goods, financial assets, or auction platforms is a must. Familiarity with the pawn shop industry is a significant plus, as is the ability to understand and connect with high-volume buyers and sellers of recycled diamonds.
This is a highly collaborative, in-person role working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Business Development
- Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy to drive auction participation, revenue, and market expansion.
- Identify new client segments, acquisition channels, and strategic partnerships.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key buyers and sellers in the diamond, jewelry, and luxury goods ecosystem—including pawn shops, retailers, and estate buyers.
- Lead high-touch client engagement efforts with a strong focus on retention and lifetime value.
- Own pipeline development, sales funnel performance, and conversion optimization.
- Recruit, manage, and develop a high-performing sales and account management team.
- Design and implement structured training programs, performance goals, and commission/incentive systems.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear KPIs and provide coaching to drive individual and team success.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and strategic planning sessions.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on campaigns, events, and outreach strategies that align with sales goals.
- Own go-to-market planning for new auction categories, services, or geographies.
- Represent Rapaport Auctions at trade shows, industry events, and key client meetings.
- Elevate the Rapaport Auctions brand as the leading global platform for recycled and polished diamond trading.
Must-Haves
- 10+ years of B2B sales leadership, growth strategy, or business development experience—preferably in auction, marketplace, financial asset, or luxury sectors.
- Strong track record of hiring, building, and managing sales teams that meet or exceed targets.
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing performance structures, including goal-setting, training programs, and commission models.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Hands-on experience managing the full sales lifecycle, from prospecting to retention.
- Highly organized, analytical, and results-driven.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to NYC; daily office presence required.
- Experience in the diamond, jewelry, auction, or high-value goods industries.
- Familiarity with the pawn shop industry is a major plus.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
- Comfortable working across global teams and time zones.
