The Food Distribution Division contributes to the nutritional well-being of the citizens of North Carolina by distributing USDA foods to eligible Recipient Agencies. Food Distribution administers six food programs for USDA.
Duties include preventative maintenance and repairs to all Food Distribution Equipment. This includes servicing batteries, tires, brake work, starters, alternators, oil changes, transmission fluid, antifreeze, air lines system and lights on tractors and trailers, reefer units on trailers, light body work, maintaining banners on trailers; and preventative maintenance and maintaining generators. This position is also responsible for installing and maintaining tracking systems on trailers, installing, and maintaining dash cams in all vehicles, and maintaining warehouse doors, freezer/cooler doors, security gates and other tasks if needed.
Duties also include responding to roadside issues such as breakdowns if within a reasonable area, daily monitoring of diesel fuel, gasoline, and DEF fluid.
A valid North Carolina CDL (Commercial Driver's License) and good driving record are requirements of this position. Applicants without a valid North Carolina CDL will be allowed to obtain a CDL within 12 months.
Must pass the driver's license check and required pre-employment drug test.
Ability to pass a fit test relative to the duties of this position.
Travel to Salisbury Warehouse for maintenance work on equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience in the repair work to which assigned; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
