nJob Title: Preschool Cook & Facility Support Location: The Farmhouse Preschool – Cypress, TX Shift: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Monday–Friday) Status: Part-Time (30 hours/week) Reports to: Executive Director, Preschool Director, and Assistant Director
nPosition Summary:
nThe Farmhouse Preschool is seeking a reliable and nurturing Preschool Cook & Facility Support team member to join our close-knit early childhood education environment. This essential position helps ensure the health, safety, and cleanliness of our preschool each day by preparing nutritious meals and supporting the overall upkeep of our facility during the early morning shift.
nKey Responsibilities:
nMeal Preparation & Food Service (Primary Role)
nPrepare, serve, and clean up breakfast, morning snack, and lunch daily in accordance with licensing and nutritional standards.
nFollow all allergy and dietary accommodations as outlined in student health records.
nMaintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, food prep, and service areas.
nMonitor and manage food inventory; communicate needs to leadership.
nMaintain all required food safety documentation.
nFacility Support Duties
nOpen the school building each morning at 6:00 AM.
nPerform light daily cleaning duties including:
nTidying bathrooms
nWiping surfaces
nTaking out kitchen and classroom trash
nSweeping and mopping as needed
nAssisting staff with light custodial or facility needs during downtime
nMonitor facility cleanliness and assist with organizing supplies or materials.
nCommunication & Compliance
nMaintain awareness of all student allergies and food restrictions.
nCommunicate effectively with leadership and classroom staff to ensure seamless coordination of daily routines.
nLearn and utilize the preschool’s communication app (no direct use with children required) to support internal operations.
nComplete required state training hours and maintain an active Food Manager Certification through the State of Texas.
nAdhere to all Texas Minimum Standards for childcare centers.
nQualifications:
nMust be 18 years or older.
nCurrent Texas Food Manager Certification required (or willingness to obtain before start date).
nPrevious experience in food service or early childhood environments preferred.
nAbility to lift up to 30 lbs and be on feet for extended periods.
nStrong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and organization.
nDependable, team-oriented, and able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
nBasic technology literacy; willingness to learn internal apps and systems.
