SUMMARY: The HSE Coordinator is responsible for implementing and maintaining site-level health, safety, and environmental compliance programs at Seaboard Energy's California terminal. This position plays a key role in driving a safety-first culture, supporting regulatory reporting, and promoting corporate HSE initiatives. In addition to HSE responsibilities, the role supports rail logistics by participating in the site's on-call response for unit train offloads to ensure timely execution and compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in both indoor and outdoor environments at a fuel terminal facility. Exposure to varying weather conditions, elevated noise levels, and potentially hazardous materials may occur. Duties may require entry into confined spaces, climbing elevated structures, and navigating uneven surfaces. The employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and equipment under varying levels of pressure.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday; 8-hour shifts may vary by operational need. Occasional overtime, weekend, or holiday work may be required based on safety responsibilities or unit train schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support and implement HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state (including Cal/OSHA), and local regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments; recommend and track corrective actions.
- Assist with maintaining required safety and environmental records, documentation, and regulatory reporting.
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis; document findings and assist in corrective actions.
- Lead or support site-wide safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training for employees and contractors.
- Coordinate with site leadership to ensure HSE procedures are understood, implemented, and sustained.
- Support the rollout of corporate HSE initiatives, including leading or assisting with behavior-based safety programs and safety observations.
- Serve as point of contact for local environmental testing and waste management contractors; ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed in compliance with regulations.
- Monitor usage and condition of PPE, safety equipment, and emergency response gear.
- Actively contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Maintain knowledge of terminal operations to respond on-call during unit train arrivals. Participate in unloading to ensure safe and timely offloading.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1+ years' experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or fuel distribution environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of HSE principles and compliance documentation.
- Knowledge of proper material handling and awareness of risks associated with incompatible substances.
- Familiarity with OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs and safety protocols.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable MVR.
