Job Title: Structural Design Engineer

Job Description
nThe purpose of this position is to provide essential technical knowledge and perform engineering
nwork as described below. This position serves as a staff engineer performing engineering
nassignment of intermediate complexity.
nUnder direct supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Area Lead Engineer, analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems of intermediate complexity in accordance with project requirements
nDevelop and review specifications and design criteria
nPerform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment and systems; and solve technical problems of intermediate complexity
nCoordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors and clients
nExecute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and procedures
nExecute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost and schedule baselines
nEstablish, control and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
nProvide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations and review of vendor
nsubmittals
nProvide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changes
nOther duties as assigned
nBasic Job Requirements
nU.S. Citizenship required
nBachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and minimum five (5) years of work-related experience
nWorking knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards
nAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
nJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
nIntermediate knowledge of discipline codes and standards
nAbility to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelines
nAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Intermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
nExperience providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services on commercial or industrial projects

n

Proficiency executing EPC projects utilizing engineering analysis, 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) automation tools in a multi-discipline
nenvironment
nDiscipline Specific Job Requirements
nIntermediate knowledge of performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures
nIntermediate knowledge of one or more of the following structural design software: STAAD, STAADPro and RISA3D
nIntermediate knowledge of Mathcad
nIntermediate knowledge of:
nAnalyzing complex structures
nWind and seismic loading in structural calculations
nDynamic analysis and design
nComputer modeling and analysis
nBlast design
nPreferred Qualifications
nProfessional Engineer license
nExperience with design of systems, structures and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of ASME NQA-1
nPractical field experience
nEPC project experience for the following industries:
nU.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government Agency
nNuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program
nManufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnology
nProficiency in the use of STAADPro and Mathcad ****
