The purpose of this position is to provide essential technical knowledge and perform engineering work as described below. This position serves as a staff engineer performing engineering assignment of intermediate complexity.
Requirements :n
- n
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and minimum five (5) years of work-related experience n
- Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards n
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors n
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job n
- Intermediate knowledge of discipline codes and standards n
- Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelines n
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner n
- Intermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs n
- Experience providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services on commercial or industrial projects n
- Proficiency executing EPC projects utilizing engineering analysis, 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) automation tools in a multi-discipline environment n
- Intermediate knowledge of performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures n
- Intermediate knowledge of one or more of the following structural design software: STAAD, STAADPro and RISA3D n
- Intermediate knowledge of Mathcad n
- Intermediate knowledge of:n
- n
- Analyzing complex structures n
- Wind and seismic loading in structural calculations n
- Dynamic analysis and design n
- Computer modeling and analysis n
- Blast design n

- Professional Engineer license n
- Experience with design of systems, structures and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of ASME NQA-1 n
- Practical field experience n
- EPC project experience for the following industries:n
- n
- U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government Agency n
- Nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program n
- Manufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnology n
n - Proficiency in the use of STAADPro and Mathcad n
Responsibilities :n
- n
- Under direct supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Area Lead Engineer, analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems of intermediate complexity in accordance with project requirements n
- Develop and review specifications and design criteria n
- Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment and systems; and solve technical problems of intermediate complexity n
- Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors and clients n
- Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and procedures n
- Execute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost and schedule baselines n
- Establish, control and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts n
- Provide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations and review of vendor submittals n
- Provide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changes n
- Other duties as assigned n
