Electro-Mechanical Technician
This position is for an Electro-Mechanical technician in the Custom Products Group. The role will support both the ESG In-lined and ESG Automation groups. The ESG In-lined group is responsible for delivering application and customer specific solutions ranging from a simple adapter to a full custom test machine. The ESG Automation group is responsible for designing and building automated solutions on top of existing Instron equipment. The candidate will build, test, and debug custom electromechanical materials testing systems and accessories. They will work from a variety of complex blueprints, diagrams, and verbal instructions to complete these assemblies. The candidate will also suggest design changes, trains other employees and provides technical leadership during assembly of electromechanical products. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Reads and interprets complex blueprints, drawings, and electrical schematics to facilitate assembly and testing of custom products May be required to modify components using common hand and power tools and identify non-conforming material Assists in employee training, provides hands-on technical support in production, and interfaces with both Manufacturing and Design Engineering. Responsible for promoting a safe working environment. Responsible to review product structure, issue material, and close out projects using various computer-based programs Work closely with interdisciplinary team of production planner, buyer, expeditor, assembly technicians, engineers, and managers to deliver high quality products on time. Provide feedback to Project Engineers regarding possible design changes, improvements, and alternatives. Work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision on multiple simultaneous projects. Identify and participate in continuous improvement efforts Knowledge, Skills, & Ability Required: High level of problem solving ability, strong analytical skills, and ability to cope with mental and visual strain associated with some precision jobs Ability to read blueprints, knowledge of machine shop practices, mechanical fits and tolerances, and ability to read, comprehend, and transmit complicated and technical details. Ability to do complex electrical wiring based on engineering drawings and schematics and use test and calibration equipment to troubleshoot systems Ability to use hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, arbor press, cordless drill, volt meter, soldering iron, etc. Good organizational skills and ability manage multiple simultaneous projects across different disciplines Good communication skills to interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Management. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs are necessary and work extended periods on their feet Ability to operate crane, fork trucks, and other material handling equipment. Educational / Experience Requirements: 5+ years of Electromechanical assembly or similar experience High School Diploma or GED (Required) Associates Degree in technical concentration or beyond (Preferred) Working Conditions: Plant environment with occasional exposure to dust, dirt, grease, noise, lubricants, cleaning fluids, and the hazards associated with working with power tools and hydraulic equipment. Reporting Relationship: Reports to Production Manager Compensation Information: This position has a starting salary range of $28.60 to $38.30 per hour. Pay is determined by several factors, including a candidate's experience, relevant skills, and qualifications
