POSITION SUMMARY:
The Advance Practice Professional (APP) is a clinical and medical expert in neonatal care. The APP performs comprehensive patient evaluations, collaborates with the clinical team, assesses educational and psychosocial needs, develops and reviews care plans, participates in staff and student education, and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Provide healthcare services in accordance with state law, licensing, and hospital privileges. Services may include but are not limited to assessments, procedures, and patient management. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR NURSE PRACTITIONER:
Graduate of a CCNE-accredited nursing program with a Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent. National Certification by recognized APRN Certification Centers. Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia. American Heart Association Neonatal BLS Certification required, with additional ALS training (PALS and/or NRP) at department discretion. Experience in Neonatal ICU, acute care, or pediatrics preferred. New graduates will be considered. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. NNP or ACPNP certification. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree as Physician Assistant required. Graduate of an ARC-PA approved PA program. Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensure or eligibility for licensure by WV boards. Neonatal BLS Certification with additional ALS training at department discretion. Experience in neonatal or pediatric care preferred. New graduates considered. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage comprehensive care, perform rounds and assessments, order tests, communicate results, develop care plans, participate in team rounds, assist in transport, recognize emergencies, educate staff and families, document care, participate in quality improvement, and engage in research and community programs. Other duties may be assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires strength and stamina to lift and move patients and equipment over 40 pounds. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work involves close collaboration, irregular hours, biohazards, infectious diseases, working near deceased, water, and electrical hazards. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
